Bikes race for victory at Manchester Velodrome

Here’s something you might not know about uSwitch – we’re sponsoring the Slicks team at Revolution, the UK’s leading track cycling event.

The event is held at Manchester Velodrome and attracts about 15,000 cycling fans over the course of a season.

Revolution features some of the world’s best cyclists – including some of the UK’s Olympic medal winners – Chris Hoy, Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish, Victoria Pendleton and Nicole Cooke have all taken part.

The uSwitch sponsored Slicks team, is led by Craig MacLean and also features Luke Rowe, Mark McNally, Sam Harrison, Leif Lampater as well as Bradley Wiggins, who holds five Olympic medals and finished fourth in the Tour de France this year.

The first event of the season was on 14th November – and an early rivalry is already developing between the Slicks and Dair Forza, captained by Rob Hayles.

The Slicks’ captain Craig Maclean won in both the Sprint and Keirin events and Amy Roberts also won the first DHL Future Stars race of the evening. However, despite these strong performances, Forza finished the event at the top of the leader-board, after Hannah Barnes and Harriot Owen won the girls’ 1.5km 6 lap dash and Rob Hayles and Leon Van Bon took the 1km Madison Time Trial.

The next event is on December 5th and will see Bradley Wiggins back in the saddle for the Slicks and former Olympic skier Alain Baxter will also make his debut in competitive track cycling.
